Mocha Mousse Cupcakes

I decided to try something new for tonight's family get together.  I made my classic German Chocolate Cupcakes but instead of topping them with buttercream I made a mocha mousse and both filled them and topped them with it.

DELICIOUS!

They turned out so well and the combination of the chocolate with the coffee is perfect!

Yes, I did indulge and eat one half which is why there are crumbs and one half missing.

Baby Shower for Samantha

This was my first baby shower cake and I absolutely LOVE how it turned out!  My sister hosted the shower and gave me total control of what the cake looked like (even down to the colours and flavours).  Coupled with a small candy buffet it is the perfect addition to any baby shower!

The cake is a German Chocolate Cake with a filling of chocolate ganache and fresh raspberries.  It is covered in fondant with all fondant accents.  The shoes on top are handmade from a combination of fondant and gumpaste!

The candy buffet included licorice nibs, coffee crisp chocolate bars, salt water taffy, and chocolate dipped strawberries.  All candy bars include the rentals of the jars, scoops, and containers/favour bags.

Giveaway

Every now and then I decide to give away either cupcakes or a cake through Facebook.  I have previously given away a kit kat cake and a few dozen cupcakes.

Yesterday, I picked up raspberries at a farm in Langley and it gave me the inspiration to make chocolate cupcakes with raspberries on top.  Then I decided to give them away to one lucky person who would be able to pick them up in Cloverdale, BC in the evening of July 14.

These are the cupcakes.  I have two dozen of them up for grabs.

Favourite cakes and cupcakes so far...

Over the past year I have done many cakes and cupcakes for family and friends.  Some of my favourite cakes and cupcakes are as follows (in the order that they were made).

1. My very first wedding cake for my cousin's wedding in April of 2011.  This was accompanied by 8 dozen cupcakes for the guests.

2. Cookies and Cream Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes.

These cupcakes would be perfect for a kid's summer birthday party!

3. All chocolate birthday cake for my sister-in-law and good friend.

4. Pandamania Cake and Cupcakes.

One of the reasons this makes the favourite list is due to the size of the order.  This cake and cupcakes were donated for the end of the church's Vacation Bible School in July 2011.  There were 14 dozen cupcakes and a 5 tier cake that were polished off in 20 minutes.

5. Open House cake for my sister-in-law's house.

This cake was a favourite for obvious reasons.

6. Bridal Shower cake for a shoe-loving Bride

Handmade gumpaste shoe.

7. Red Velvet cupcakes with Cream Cheese icing.

This is probably my favourite cupcake/icing combination!

8. Penguin Cupcakes

These were made for a little girl's first birthday party.  All the penguins were hand molded with fondant.

This cake was made with two dozen handmade gumpaste Calla Lilies.
